Primary Purpose             

This position is a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team providing psychiatric services to youth, young adults and families.  Provide comprehensive mental health assessments, treatment plans and interventions within the framework Of Collaborative Problem Solving (cps). Maintain flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic and progressive agency.

Education and Experience          

Must meet Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) classifications, for a Mental Health Intern:

 

A qualified Mental Health Intern, as defined in 309-019-0105 (61(61) “Mental Health Intern” means a person who meets qualifications for QMHA but does not have the necessary graduate degree in psychology, social work or behavioral science field to meet the educational requirement of QMHP. The person must.

  • Be currently enrolled in a graduate program for a master’s degree in psychology, social work or in a behavioral science field.
  • Have a collaborative educational agreement with the CMHP, or other provider, and the graduate program.
  • Work within the scope of his/her practice and competencies identified by the policies and procedures for credentialing of clinical staff as established by provider, or
  • Receive, at minimum, weekly supervision by a qualified clinical supervisor employed by the provider of services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Provide proof of current, valid Oregon Driver’s License (or if out-of-state will obtain Oregon license within 30 days), comprehensive automobile insurance (if applicable) and a safe driving record (minimum of 3 yrs.) to use company or personal vehicle for required duties.
  • Successfully pass a Criminal Background Check and Medicaid Fraud Check.
  • Obtain and Maintain Children’s Emergency Safety Intervention Specialist (CESIS) certification if not licensed.
  • Obtain and maintain current CPI Verbal De-escalation Certification.
  • Obtain and maintain current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Obtain a Food Handlers Card.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Core Competencies

  • Deliver and coordinate psychiatric services for youth, young adults and families.
  • Establish rapport by demonstrating and maintaining clear, consistent, appropriate, and therapeutic boundaries.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all applicable Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) and Behavior Rehabilitation Services Rules as they pertain to assessment tools and treatment plans.
  • Concisely and thoroughly document daily clinical information. Provide timely accurate documentation to meet billing requirements. Must adhere to Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) and standards of care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and be able to efficiently access community resources, support services and referral systems for treatment and discharge planning.
  • Demonstrate alignment with the philosophy of Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) by utilizing the approaches in interactions with youth and young adults, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Provide treatment and assist in stabilization of youth and young adults using a variety of evidence-based methods including wraparound, strengths-based, and family-centered framework.
  • Provide individual, group and family therapy per treatment plan.
  • Formulate and document mental health assessments and treatment plans based on identified strengths and needs.
  • Maintain communication avenues with essential positions regarding client needs and treatment plans.
  • Fulfill responsibilities for Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) on call responsibilities.

  • Actively supervise and interact with youth and psychiatric services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of youth and young adults’ development and group dynamics by adjusting therapeutic approaches to developmental level and group interactions.
  • Provide transportation of youth and young adults, or assistance of transportation for appointments and activities.
  • Safely de-escalate youth and young adults, including in crisis situations, by effectively using verbal intervention skills.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and assurance activities.
  • Abide by ethical codes, mission, values, and professional standards, including confidentiality.
  • Actively utilize and reference agency policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Present a positive attitude, professional demeanor and demonstrated respect with youth and young adults, families, staff, visitors, and community partners.
  • Perform all work tasks in a proper and safe manner per established policies, procedures, and guidelines to prevent unnecessary injury, time loss and agency expense.
  • Comply with all federal, state and agency health and safety reporting requirements.
