Salary Range: $70.19/hour - $90.80/hour



Job Summary:

Evaluates clinical practice of nursing and ancillary clinical roles in KPCO. Provides consultation and guidance regarding clinical practice standards in the region; makes strategic decisions regarding clinical practice with significant impact on operations (e.g scope of practice; nursing staff models). Advances the art and science of professional practice in a patient centered environment through a professional practice model and leadership. Directs the development, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of the KPCO health plan services. In partnership with operations leadership and CPMG, develops, implements and oversees clinical quality programs and strategies designed to assure high quality care delivery and member satisfaction and to drive results for quality programs and initiatives. Provides leadership and direction to departments in areas of performance regarding clinical quality. Responsible for enhancing performance of clinical departments and management of nursing-centric and clinical performance quality programs. Overall financial performance of department.



Essential Responsibilities:


  • This position, knows and complies with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice in every interaction with patients, colleagues, providers, and leadership. Ensures patient safety and workplace safety principles are upheld in day to day work and interactions.

  • Makes policy and strategy decisions regarding professional practice and nursing quality programs for KPCO. Uses knowledge of Kaiser Permanente to analyze and anticipate consequences of decisions and impact on the organization.

  • Directs the development and evaluation of evidence-based nursing policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements (CO Nurse Practice Act), external laws and professional practice standards. Hires, leads, manages and terminates the nursing practice department leadership personnel. Oversees the development, implementation, and adherence to clinical guidelines and education for care. Guides clinical departments in the development of quality guidelines and operationalizes measures of compliance with those guidelines. Develops policies and procedures to ensure effective operations consistent with organizational objectives for clinical quality, service quality, safety and access.

  • Translates and consistently/effectively communicates strategic vision and performance and connects to larger picture. Clearly provides action steps to professional practice.

  • Directs/influences innovative nursing roles for patient care delivery.

  • Assembles and influences diverse key stakeholders to analyze complex issues and when appropriate to support decisions regarding regional professional practice, clinical excellence and nursing quality.

  • Directs/oversight for all financial performance for regional Professional Practice, Clinical Excellence and  Nursing Quality Programs (including applicable grants).

  • Directs, influences, and mentors regional clinical operations managers/leaders and clinical staff to engage in professional practice and quality standards.

  • Supports managers and supervisors with the application of current nursing practices and standards content to JODs.

  • Collaborates with other nursing services leadership to appropriately report nursing individuals to the Colorado State Board of Nursing. 

  • Directs the development of nursing care delivery models to ensure defined roles of team members and align scope of practice of all clinical staff.

  • Directs and supports a professional practice and clinical excellence culture of compliance, service, ethics, professionalism, compassion, teamwork, patient family centered care, excellence and integrity.

  • Develops, implements and assures the ongoing effectiveness of programs and strategies to achieve department, regional and program-wide goals.

  • Creates systems and processes to monitors and improve organizational performance against established targets in clinical areas, and departments.

  • Develops, analyzes and disseminates best practices where appropriate.

  • Leads workgroups in partnership with the operations leadership and CPMG. Integrates work plans and produces seamless transition of care for members.

  • Promotes nursing initiatives and collaboration across departments in multiple facilities.

  • Consults and coordinates with medical office and department leaders on local issues and general operating practices.

  • Administers annual operating budget and capital equipment budget for the area(s) of responsibility. Ensures pm/pm costs are continually improved. Prepares monthly reports and specialized reports with analysis to depict the financial position of the department. Develops plans to optimize revenue.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Experience


  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience as an RN or similar professional healthcare practice.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience.


Education


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or related health care field required.


License, Certification, Registration


  • Registered Nurse License (Colorado)


Additional Requirements:


  • Extensive knowledge of Colorado Nurse Practice Act, Advanced practice regulatory requirements and regulatory requirements for other clinical roles.

  • Extensive knowledge about Nursing and APP Professional Practice Standards and Leadership Standards.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to facilitate senior level discussions.

  • Extensive Knowledge and experience with systems-level quality improvement and project management.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Nursing or other professional health care experience in both in-patient and out-patient setting.

  • Proficient at electronic programs and electronic medical record navigation (e.g. Word, Excel, Visio, etc.).

  • Masters degree in Nursing Administration.

  • Certification in Ambulatory Nursing Administration and/ or other quality and leadership certifications.
