What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Management Associate position at Kaiser Permanente?
Job Summary:
Under indirect supervision, performs inventory management responsibilities; picks-up, delivers, receives and distributes medical and non-medical supplies and equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Drives motor vehicle; operates motor vehicle in safe, courteous manner; transports and unloads items to and from Kaiser facilities, private/public/government facilities or places of business; obtains required signatures/information after delivery.
- Checks vehicle daily; ensures vehicle operates properly and within accepted safety standards at all times; reports abnormalities, accidents or emergencies to appropriate party.
- Receives orders; verifies orders received complete and as requested; enters data in computer; inspects items for visible damage.
- Returns incomplete, incorrect or damaged orders; enters data in computer; informs Product Management team; performs follow-up with vendor; ensures returned items are replaced.
- Affixes bar codes on all capital equipment; enters data in computer; initiates record (e.g. serial number, assembly).
- Performs or coordinates safety inspections, as appropriate; assesses products or equipment for compliance with safety requirements; enters data in computer; informs Product Management team; returns products or equipment that do not pass safety inspection.
- Distributes items as appropriate; enters distribution data in computer; stores/coordinates items if customer unready to take ownership; generates pick list; distributes stored items when customer ready; assembles equipment as required by departments; enters disposition data in computer.
- Receives and stores equipment deemed recyclable/reusable for future use; enters equipment data in computer; distributes reusable equipment as requested; enters disposition data in computer.
- Performs cycle count; counts and verifies inventory stock.
- Performs internal movement of furnishings and equipment as directed; transfers, stores and disposes of records as needed.
- Operates loading equipment (e.g. forklift, picker, stacker) safely; moves supplies for storage or onto vehicles for delivery; maintains equipment; charges batteries; checks equipment according to procedures and manufacturer recommendations; ensures safe operation of equipment.
- Stays current with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations requirements.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service.
- Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned.

Experience
- Two (2) years inventory management or related experience.
Education
- High School Diploma; or equivalent combination of education (lesser) & experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.
License, Certification, Registration
- Drivers License (in location where applicable)
Additional Requirements:
- Must meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as prescribed by U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
- Demonstrated ability to operate forklift.
- Knowledge of modular equipment assembly.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, customer service, influence/negotiation, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, teamwork, and written communication.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in database PC applications.
- Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone.
- Reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Training/giving and receiving instructions.
- Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g., organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years inventory management experience in healthcare setting.
