What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leaves/Attendance Coordinator position at Kaiser Permanente?
Job Summary:
Position supports managers on FMLA related matters to address employees with Attendance irregularities and monitors FMLA approvals and denials by the HRSC. Offers guidance on FMLA policy to employees and managers.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides technical support to medical center leadership resolving challenging FMLA cases.
- Works with leaders to prevent FMLA abuse.
- Identifies FMLA cases with multiple approvals and conducts appropriate research to ensure documentation supports approval/denial decisions by HRSC.
- Takes appropriate steps to remedy any deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Reviews FMLA cases and determines when to escalate.
- Provides guidance to managers to ensure Kaiser Permanente meets its FMLA obligations.
- Identifies and analyzes unusual approval/denials using MYHR, Case Management, etc.
- Develops next step recommendations to the manager.
- For approved FMLAs, requests managers to monitor FMLA utilization by employees.
- For denied FMLAs, advises managers of Attendance irregularities identified during the review.
- Advises managers to proceed to address the absences in accordance with Kaiser Permanentes Attendance policy with follow action due to HR in two weeks.
- Engages with HRSC on behalf of managers regarding complex FMLA case follow ups.
- Provides FMLA training to managers.
- Collects and researches data.
- Performs analysis reports denied FMLA goal results for inclusion in managers performance evaluation.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of human resources experience including working with bargaining unit employees.
Education
- Associate Degree or two (2) years of experience in a directly related field required.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- N/A
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of human resources laws and regulations such as FMLA, CESLA.
- Proficiency with software applications.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field preferred.
