Director of Sales – Spotsylvania County, Virginia

This is not a marketing or revenue management role. This is sales. You’ll own a territory and verticals with clear goals and expectations. You’ll be responsible for generating group business, developing key accounts, and leading the on-site sales team to maximize revenue. You must be able to sell with confidence, build strong client relationships, and lead a team to success.
As a Kalahari Director of Sales, you’ll work on-site—even during the construction phase—developing the market and laying the groundwork for long-term success. This position requires an individual who is driven, strategic, and relentless in the pursuit of sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to maximize group bookings and revenue.
- Own and manage an assigned territory and/or verticals with measurable performance goals.
- Build, mentor, and lead a results-oriented sales team.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and industry partners.
- Collaborate with conference services and catering teams to ensure seamless event execution.
- Work on-site, engaging with clients and stakeholders from pre-opening through ongoing operations.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of hotel sales experience at a 500 room hotel or a hotel attached to a convention center with 80,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.
- Proven ability to develop, negotiate, and close high-value group business.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and motivating a sales team.
- Deep understanding of the meetings and conventions market in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
- Ability to think independently, problem-solve, and deliver creative solutions to meet client needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Business, or Finance.
- Hotel pre-opening sales experience.
