    Position Title: Anticipated High School Cheer Advisor
    Season begin date: TBD - likely August 2025
    Season end date: TBD - likely March 2026
    Salary: $4,655.00 - $5,400.00 DOE
    Benefits: This position is not eligible for health or retirement benefits
    Reports to: Athletic Director
    Location: Kalama, WA

    General Duties

    • Practice and game coaching, supervision of athletes, scheduling of games, practices
    • ?Transportation, communication with parents, and budget management.

    Essential Functions

    • Coordination and leadership of the high school cheerleaders.
    • Schedule a date for tryouts for 1 week in March or April. (Scheduling should occur after spring sports practices for track, softball, and golf.)
    • Coordinate the selection of cheerleaders.
    • Coordinate and oversee the selection of uniforms, practice sessions, workshops, and other activities which the advisor, in cooperation with the high school principal, deems necessary for the program.
    • Partner with the Athletic Department to organize summer camps, clinics, and other program development opportunities.
    • Implement and maintain team rules/guidelines for consistent compliance of discipline.
    • Responsible for the supervision of cheerleaders at home games and away from home games unless a conflict exists due to responsibilities of another event taking place at the same time. In that event, the supervisor shall notify the athletic director early enough so that the athletic director may arrange other supervision of the cheerleaders.
    • Conduct and supervise all practices
    • Organize and implement a competitive cheerleading program
    • Develop and evaluate cheer athletes
    • Responsible for establishing a positive and process oriented team culture
    • Ongoing and regular communication with student athletes and parents regarding the program vision, philosophy, schedule, and all important program information.
    • In coordination with the athletic director, appropriately manage the program budget and track and maintain all equipment and uniforms.
    • Supervise student athletes before, during, and after practices and games
    • Partner with the athletic director to provide an excellent and meaningful student athlete experience.
    • Provides instruction to students in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport
    • Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises
    • Assess students' skills, monitors students during competition and practice
    • Follow established procedures in the event of an injury
    • Model sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials and spectators
    • Maintain a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times
    • Participate in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies
    • Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records
    • Model non discriminatory practices in all activities
    • ?Must complete my247 and all WIAA trainings through FinalForms and SafeSchools through the district prior to the beginning of the sport's season

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School diploma or GED
    • Per WIAA - minimum age for head coach is 21 years of age
    • Previous Coaching experience preferred
    • Reasoning ability
    • ?Ability to effectively communicate with high school students, parents, coaches and staff

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • CPR/First Aid card

    LANGUAGE & TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules.
    • Ability to speak effectively to administration, staff, students and parents.
    • ?Ability to use district directed platforms to communicate with students and parents, i.e. FinalForms.

    Travel Requirements

    • Travels to other school district buildings as required.

    If you are hired for this position, you will be required to pay for a background check, unless you have completed the background check in the past two years, and it is on file with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).

    FLSA Status: Exempt
