- Associate’s degree in a field related to human resources
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- MSBO Human Resource Specialist (HRS) Certification or willingness to acquire
- 1-3 years of human resource experience preferred
- Working knowledge of business office computer systems; Google and Skyward systems preferred
- Knowledge of school business office operations preferred
- Working knowledge of federal & state reporting (e.g. REP, EEOC, Medicaid Outreach, FMLA)
- Facilitate hiring, onboarding, and processing of new personnel
- Prepare and monitor postings for all job openings, post on AppliTrack and other places as directed
- Administer criminal background checks for prospective Comstock Public Schools and third-party employees, and monitor conviction updates
- Meet all REP reporting requirements for the twice-yearly collection
- Prepare and produce annual contracts for teachers, office staff, and administrators
- Work with third-party employers to give them required information regarding terms of employment for each employee working through them for Comstock Public Schools
- Coordinate closely with the finance department regarding benefits administration, salary advances, and tuition reimbursement
- Manage personnel records including employee new-hire and termination records, and all records related to seniority, tenure, and retirement
- Track and submit teachers’ professional development activities
- Maintain updated staff directories
- Administer FMLA requests, certification, and follow up according to federal guidelines and regulations
- Keep teacher certification records up to date, notify teachers of certificate expiration dates, and follow through with obtaining valid teaching certificates by the required date
- Stay informed on all human resource-related items, legislation information, and all state and federal reporting requirements
- Responsible for completing all employment verifications and unemployment forms
- Monitor and respond to Unemployment Insurance Agency notices by furnishing supporting materials
- Assign mandatory staff safety training and track compliance
- Complete the EEOC report biannually
- Serve as a team participant with all Central Office staff
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned
