ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages cases assigned to a specific court, including out-of-county cases assigned by the State Court Administrator's Office; generates and reviews reports; organizes caseload; maintains and secures confidential reports; briefs judge before hearings or signing of court orders.
- Manages courtroom activities; records participates in, and supervises court proceedings; participates in the jury selection process and receiving and recording verdicts; gathers attorneys/parties for hearings; arranges for appropriate security to be in place, as needed.
- Compiles reports or necessary documents of court activities for cases; monitors courtroom recording equipment; maintains court logs; facilitates video (Zoom) hearings to accommodate jails, correctional facilities, attorneys, probation agents, defendants, and witnesses.
- Reviews cases and determines what documents are necessary for upcoming hearings; composes and distributes court orders, event summary reports, and judgments of sentence after those hearings.
- Updates the court's electronic case management system and ensures the database accurately reflects case status.
- Serves as a liaison between the judge and members of the criminal justice community, attorneys, litigants, and the public; maintains court and personal calendars; schedules meetings; maintains office supplies.
- Perform related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- At least two years of relevant college-level course work or an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of court or related field experience
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
