What are the responsibilities and job description for the PUBLIC HEALTH TECHNICIAN position at Kalamazoo County Government?
There are two positions available.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to support the delivery of clinical services and/or a public health program. Collects medical information for entry into Electronic Medical Records systems and various other databases. Completes billing, claims, and financial reports. Performs insurance verifications or other similar authorizations to ensure services are paid for. Responds to citizen and provider inquiries.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answers telephones and schedules appointments.
- Gathers information pertinent to the client visit; looks up immunization records in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system; updates and/or verifies client address, phone number, insurance, and payment information in the EMR system.
- Maintains court documents and gathers test results for clients.
- Enters client test results into accounts; provides test results to clients.
- Takes payment and handles cash; deposits money at the end of the day.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
- 1 to 3 years of related work experience in customer service
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities

Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Starting salary commensurate with experience 104(00-02) $18.43-$19.94
