The Material Handler position is responsible for working with Fabrication Managers and/or Crib Attendant to stage parts and materials of jobs for Fabricators, working with Steel Receiving in separating and staging materials received from vendors, and working with Fabricators to make sure they have everything they need to do their job. They may also be responsible for driving the Company truck for building to building transfers as well as local deliveries and pick-ups.
Qualifications
- Dedication to excellence and a quality output
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Valid Michigan Chauffeurs License (or valid Driver License with the ability to obtain)
- Current Medical Examiner’s License (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to read blueprints, lists of material and routers
- General Math Skills
- Ability to operate basic manufacturing equipment and tools
- Experience: one-year minimum experience in a manufacturing environment
Responsibilities:
- Promote excellence throughout the department
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and conduct themselves in a safe manner
- Operate basic manufacturing equipment and tools
- Moving stock throughout the plant
- Assisting in moving of large equipment
- Maintenance of consumable inventory levels for Manufacturing floor
- Provide timely consumable products to the Manufacturing floor throughout the day
- Responsible for tagging and placing of materials and parts in proper locations
- Excellent communication with a variety of manufacturing personnel
- Work independently with only simple verbal instructions
- Transferring parts and materials from building to building, local deliveries and pick-ups
- Work in other areas of the operation as directed by supervision
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
