Kalamazoo Garden Solutions (KGS) is seeking a passionate Lead Merchandiser to oversee a team and support merchandising efforts in Greater Detroit. If you have leadership experience and a love for plants, this is a great opportunity to make an impact at a national retailer!
We’re driven by a vision of creating beautiful outdoor spaces, and our Live Plants Lead Merchandisers play a pivotal role in making that vision come to life. As a team leader, you’ll guide a group of passionate merchandisers to enhance plant displays and ensure they’re in top condition for customers. How long with KGS? Shannon has been with KGS for 5 years and serves as a Regional Manager for Metro Detroit and Mid-MI.Prior Experience? Shannon spent 20 years as a District Manager / Regional Audit Manager for a book distributor and merchandising company.Passionate About? Shannon has a passion for antiques and collectibles and has been a dealer for over 30 years. She loves reading, spending time with her family in Maine, and aspires to retire there.Jasmine Tanner – Merchandising Manager (Greater Detroit)
How long with KGS? Jasmine began as a seasonal merchandiser in 2020 and has worked her way up to Merchandising Manager for the South Metro Detroit area.Prior Experience? Jasmine’s career began at 13 years old, starting in her mother's tax business and moving on to various roles, including working at Walmart and as an Assistant Manager at a restaurant before finding her passion at KGS.Passionate About? Outside of work, Jasmine enjoys embroidery, painting, crafting, and baking, especially making cookies and breads. She’s also dedicated to meal planning for her family.Cara Cooney – Merchandising Manager (Greater Detroit)
How long with KGS? Cara joined KGS in 2018 as a merchandiser and was promoted to Merchandising Manager for the North Detroit Region in 2020.Prior Experience? Before KGS, Cara was a hairstylist in the same salon for 20 years, learning valuable customer service and communication skills.Passionate About? Cara enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, volunteering at a nonprofit community center, and going on adventures, including her favorite : skydiving.Sunny Cantrell – Merchandising Manager (Greater Detroit)
How long with KGS? Sunny has been with KGS for 2 years as a Merchandising Manager in the Greater Detroit area.Prior Experience? Sunny’s prior experience includes working as a visual merchandiser and project manager in retail settings.Passionate About? Sunny loves hiking and spending time in nature, as well as enjoying her time with her family and friends.Audra Williams – Merchandising Manager (Greater Detroit)
How long with KGS? Audra started with KGS in February 2019 as a Merchandising Manager for the East Detroit area.Prior Experience? Prior to KGS, Audra worked as an Area Manager leading and training over 200 product demonstrators across the West Coast for major store retailers.Passionate About? Audra enjoys spending time outdoors, motorcycle riding, taking her dog for walks, and traveling to water destinations. She’s passionate about maintaining strong family connections and learning new skills.Key Responsibilities :
Lead a team of merchandisers in setting up and maintaining plant displays according to store layout.Provide daily updates to management and ensure smooth operations across stores.Ensure proper watering practices and maintain plant health.Audit and ensure that all signage is updated in a timely manner for promotions and sales.Work independently and in a team setting to meet daily goals and expectations.Position Requirements :
City of Residence : Candidates must live in close proximity to our local client retail service location(s), which will be confirmed during the pre-interview process.Experience effectively leading a team.Reliable Transportation : Reliable transportation is required to commute to work.Flexible Schedule : A commitment of at least 2 days per week for 4-hour shifts is required. Additional shifts may be available upon request.Physical Fitness : Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, push, pull, and remain active for the duration of their shift.Qualifications :
Prior merchandising or retail experience is a bonus.Prior experience in team management.Willingness / desire to do the work alongside your team.Ability to hold a schedule and be organized.Reliability is essential.Strong customer service oriented attitude.What We Offer :
