The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is a critical part of Michigan’s education system serving the Greater Kalamazoo region and provides specialized services to schools and communities and optimizes resources by centralizing innovative programs and services. We partner with school districts and the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education, career learning, and educator development, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.
We are currently seeking a Cloud Engineer (this position is remote but requires that the candidate resides in Michigan). The essential responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and monitor backups to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of AWS EC2 and related cloud infrastructure.
- Create and manage dashboards for real-time monitoring of MiCloud and customer infrastructure and systems.
- Perform routine system updates, including patching, upgrades, and security hardening of all cloud server environments.
- Support premise-to-cloud migration activities, ensuring minimal disruption and seamless integration.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud-based systems, addressing issues promptly.
- Establish and manage automated workflows and system integrations to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal teammates and external stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure proper configuration and management of MDR solutions across server environments.
- Document infrastructure configurations, changes, and operational procedures comprehensively for consistency and transparency.
- Stay updated on the latest cloud management technologies and practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience with 2-3 years of experience in systems engineering, focusing on Windows systems and virtualization. Experience in Agile/SCRUM project management framework and Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking.
Certificates, License, Registration:
• AWS Cloud Solutions Architect Associate or greater
• AWS Cloud SysOps Administrator Associate or greater
Skill Set Requirements:
- Significant experience with Amazon Web Services, including but not limited to:
- VPCs, load balancing, DNS, firewalls, and VPNs.
- EBS, S3 and Glacier storage technologies
- EC2 virtual machine management
- Maintaining CloudFormation templates
- Route 53 DNS hosting services
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose performance issues within AWS environment
- Extensive Microsoft Windows Server management skills
- Expertise in backup and replication with Veeam Backup & Recovery suite
- Enterprise MDR experience, preferably CrowdStrike
This is a 12-month calendar position in job grade 18T with an annual rate of pay between $68,019.72 and $100,825.55.
