The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is a critical part of Michigan’s education system serving the Greater Kalamazoo region and provides specialized services to schools and communities and optimizes resources by centralizing innovative programs and services. We partner with school districts and the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education, career learning, and educator development, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.
We are currently seeking a Career Coach at Career Connect Downtown in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The essential responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Take an active role in the development, continuous improvement and implementation of K-12 career awareness and exploration experiences in alignment with the Michigan Career Development Model
- Support the scheduling and volunteer coordination for events and experiences offered through the career development team
- Support student use of Xello, an online platform designed to support students in their career exploration and planning journey
- Assist students in the Educational Development Plan (EDP) process utilizing the Xello platform
- Collaborate with staff across Career Connect in support of K-12 career development experiences.
- Assist with data collection and entry utilizing Salesforce, Career Connect's online platform for tracking student experiences and partner engagement.
- Establish and maintain connections with local school districts and out-of-school time providers
- Facilitate the Discovery Lab experience for students, educators, and families
- As part of a project team, help to create new iterations of the Discovery Lab and assist with the creation of customized Discovery Lab activities that integrate into core content
- Support schools in promoting and facilitating career-related conversations between students and their families to enhance career awareness and planning.
- Exemplify strong social-emotional skills and promote their integration into career development activities.
- Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset; identifies areas for improvement on an individual, team and organizational level and can establish next steps
- Participate in professional development activities (workshops, meetings, seminars, and organizational memberships)
- Stay abreast of the latest trends in career development and incorporate them into planning
Preferred Skills and Education:
- A bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- 2 years' experience working with students, youth, and/or career development is preferred.
This is an 12-month calendar position in job grade 15 with an annual rate of pay between $49,298 and $69,342.
