We are currently seeking Physical Therapy Assistant (Start Date of March 2025) at WoodsEdge Learning Center in Portage, Michigan.
The essential responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Under the guidance of the physical therapist, provide direct therapy to students with severe impairments, ages 3-26 years old, by following the plans provided to them.
To assist the physical therapist in the development and revision of individualized therapy
programs.
- To assist and train classroom staff in gross motor procedures as well as in lifting, handling and positioning students and in the proper use of positioning equipment.
- To attend classroom team meetings and PLC meetings to consult with classroom staff.
- To assist the physical therapist in developing and maintaining reports on students.
- To accept responsibility for the student’s personal care, wellbeing and environment throughout treatment.
- To provide instruction within designated community settings in order that students may meet individualized educational goals and objectives.
- Assists PT in creating mobility and positioning program for each student. Trains staff on how to implement and monitor the program.
- Assists therapist in annually obtaining a prescription for each student receiving PT services. Prescription must be signed by an MD or DO per Medicaid billing requirement.
- To maintain documentation for all sessions including attendance records, data and Medicaid billing.
- Maintain, monitor and adjust inventory of mobility equipment throughout the school setting.
Qualified candidates will have a degree in physical therapy from an accredited physical therapist assistant program and be licensed as a physical therapy assistant in Michigan. Experience in school therapy (preferred). An understanding of the learning processes of severely cognitively and multiply impaired students.
This is a 11-month calendar position in job grade 15 with an annual rate of pay between $42,498.00 and $63,000.00.
