What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Psychologist/Behavior Support Specialist position at Kalamazoo RESA?
The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is a critical part of Michigan’s education system serving the Greater Kalamazoo region and provides specialized services to schools and communities and optimizes resources by centralizing innovative programs and services. We partner with school districts and the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education, career learning, and educator development, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.
We are currently seeking School Psychologist/Behavior Support Specialist at KRESA West Campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The essential responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Conducts diagnostic evaluations to identify student’s needs, limitations, and potentials, observing student in classroom, at play, in the community, studying school records, consulting with parents and school personnel, and administering and interpreting diagnostic findings
- Convey special education assessment information to various stakeholders as an evaluation team representative in the ER (evaluation recommendation) process
- Attends and participates in IEP(Individualized Education Plan) meetings; works in collaboration with local districts to plan treatment programs
- Collaborates with colleagues to build capacity in staff in local districts, general education preschool settings and early childhood center based program
- Conducts functional behavior assessment as part of a comprehensive evaluation
- May design/collaborate on individual positive behavior support plan with input from parents and staff
- Consults with program staff on the implementation of a behavior plan within the context of an early childhood setting
- Ability to efficiently use computer and applicable software effectively present information in front of groups.
- Attitude of acceptance and esteem for students
- Ability to communicate effectively including listening
- Keeps team including administrator abreast of caseload status
- Presents information in a manner that maintains student’s attention, and which encourages their engagement
- Works in a team-oriented fashion
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret data

- Ability to use information from data collection in decision making
- Knowledge/expertise assessing or developing treatment plans for young children with autism highly preferred
Qualified candidates will have required- approved Michigan School Psychologist certified by the Michigan Department of Education or fully licensed psychologist.
Preferred credentialing as certified behavioral analyst
This is an 11-month calendar position in job grade 17 with an annual rate of pay between $49,308.00 and $108,763.00.
