The Food Hub Outreach and Marketing Coordinator works closely with the Food Hub Manager and Operations Coordinator at the Valley HUB social enterprise food hub at the Food Innovation Center. This position’s work supports a customer engagement plan to increase sales of locally-sourced fresh and fresh-cut produce to institutions like schools, hospitals, and long-term care facilities.
This is a grant-funded position through the USDA Local Food Promotion Program. Continuation after 6/30/2025 is dependent upon availability of funding and is not likely.
Essential Duties of the Food Hub Outreach and Marketing Coordinator
The Food Hub Outreach and Marketing Coordinator works closely with the Food Hub Manager and Operations Coordinator at the Valley HUB social enterprise food hub at the Food Innovation Center. Essential Duties of the Food Hub Outreach and Marketing Coordinator
- Work with the Food Hub Manager and Food Systems Education Program Manager to identify marketing/education/promotion needs and opportunities.
- Develop marketing systems and materials for all types of media (including social media), in consultation with the Kalamazoo Valley marketing department.
- Develop technical assistance tools as needed and requested by food hub customers, including farmer/supplier profiles, product specification sheets, adapted recipes and process training guides.
- Work collaboratively with program directors, peers, and support staff to accomplish unit goals.
- Collect and compile data and documentation for grant reporting evaluation of food hub operations and draft brief reports as requested.
- Other appropriate duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are required. An example of this would be an associate degree and three years of related education or work experience in food service, nutrition and/or nutrition education, food procurement, food marketing or related work.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
A degree in dietetics with a focus on community nutrition or a Certified Dietary Manager certificate is preferred.

- Basic knowledge of food and farming systems is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in an institutional food service setting is strongly preferred.

Work Hours:
20-29 hours within normal business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Field work is required and may involve extended hours and weekend work.
