About the Opportunity
Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a dynamic and experienced Medical Culinary Program Director to support and promote a positive, student-centered experience. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Community Kitchen and culinary execution for Medical Culinary and Evidence-Based Programs, both on campus and at offsite locations. This position plays a key role in training and supporting faculty, staff, and students in culinary operations, managing event logistics, and ensuring food safety compliance.
Specific responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Oversee management of execution staff for programs delivered by the Medical Culinary and Evidenced Based Programs.
- Assist in the supervision of the overall daily operation of the building for all instructional and non-instructional purposes.
- Monitor and coordinate staff development and training opportunities for direct reports.
- Train staff and faculty on food and beverage requisitions, sourcing, and preparation to meet educational and programmatic needs.
- Plan and coordinate logistics for events and activities involving food procurement, including considerations for dietary needs, food trends, and specialized ingredients.
- Recommend, hire, orient, train and evaluate assigned staff.
- Work directly with students to provide the best possible student experience by providing guidance on educational requirements and guiding students to appropriate resources to help address educational and personal challenges.
- Oversee inventory control including purchasing, receiving, storage, and preparation of food and beverages.
- Collaborate with medical professionals to develop recipes aligned with specific dietary requirements, perform nutrient analysis, and assess training effectiveness.
- Serve as lead instructor for non-credit programs when assigned, as well as any in-class adaptations based on identified barriers or accommodation requests.
- Ensure proper safety and sanitation protocols in compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are requirements. An example of this would be a bachelor degree in an appropriate field and five years of related experience, including proven leadership, operational management, communication, and customer service skills.
