Job Description
Completes and/or directly assists others in department with assigned tasks and/or duties. Manages the work activities of the gross surgical cutting room, frozen section room, and tissue procurement activities which includes oversight of residents, students, Anatomic Pathology Assistants, pathology fellows and other involved in accessioning, and processing specimens, slides, and tissue for procurement. Assist the pathologist in all associated gross Anatomic Pathology dissection activities and in performing autopsies. Assists in all functions required to maintain inventory levels within the laboratory.
Education And Credentials
Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological or Chemical Science. MS - Masters of Science in Health Science or Pathology Assistant required. American Association of Pathologists' Assistants Certification, ASCP BOR Pathologists' Assistant Certification or equivalent. Pathology Assistant Licensure required upon hire. ASCP Certification obtained within 90 days of hire.
Experience
1 year experience in a health care environment with laboratory, autopsy or surgical involement preferred. 1 year experience working as a Pathologist's Assistant preferred.
