As a design research intern/co-op, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills while working alongside an innovative and highly collaborative team. In this role, you will help product development teams uncover insights to incorporate the voice and needs of end users and other stakeholders into the design of physical and digital products.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the needs of the design research team by contributing to the planning and execution of qualitative user research, including exploratory, generative, directional, and evaluative studies
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for improving the design of physical and digital products to optimize user experiences
- Assist in the creation of research documents, including protocols, discussion guides, participant screeners, data collection and analysis tools, and visually compelling findings presentations
- Conduct secondary research to help the team build foundational and contextual knowledge within specific project spaces
- Participate in collaborative brainstorming activities with cross-functional teams
- Take ownership of assigned work from inception to delivery, keeping the team abreast of progress, challenges, and opportunities along the way
- Knowledge and skills at a level acquired through pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Design or related field; talent at a junior, senior, recent graduate, or postgraduate level preferred
- Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong critical and conceptual thinking skills demonstrated by clarity, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, significance, logic, and fairness on project work
- In Bachelor’s (or higher) program in Design, Marketing, Research, Social Science, Human Factors, Psychology or related fields
Tools and Equipment Used
- Microsoft Office
- Minimal: ~5% of the time
- Frequently required to sit at a desk for long period of time
- Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
- Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.
- Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person
- Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around the office environment
- Ability to analyze unique situations and develop appropriate response
