Principal Duties & Responsibilities
The intern will have the opportunity to learn and assist with the following tasks:
- Functional Operations
- Learn to read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics, and wire lists.
- Gain experience in sourcing parts online and working with vendors.
- Support the development, integration, and debugging of new products and test sets/fixtures.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing existing products, test sets/fixtures.
- Help assemble products, test sets, test fixtures, and wire harnesses.
- Assemble breadboards, prototypes, and circuit card assemblies.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing circuit card assemblies.
- Use commercial software tools for products and test stations.
- Run and document various tests, including Alpha/Beta tests.
- Operate and learn to use test and measurement equipment.
- Maintain awareness of project schedules and report status under mentor guidance.
- Support day-to-day activities in the electronics and assembly labs, including:
- General lab upkeep and organization.
- Ordering and maintaining lab supplies and inventory.
- Organizing tools and fixtures.
- Assisting with safety compliance monitoring.
- Tracking and documenting lab activities.
- Ensuring lab equipment calibration is maintained.
- Client and Work Management
- Collaborate with your mentor and interact with engineers and customers as needed to ensure project success.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is a plus.
- None required.
- Strong ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks while adapting to changing needs.
- Basic understanding of soldering, wiring, digital multimeters, and DC power supplies.
- Ability to load commercial software and drivers.
- Must qualify as either a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S. for access to U.S. controlled technology under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
Tools and Equipment Used
- Computer workstation, typical office equipment, laboratory instruments, and electrical equipment.
- Minimal: up to 10% of the time.
- Frequent periods of sitting at a desk or workstation.
- Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination for operating office equipment.
