Summary of Functions

The professional in this position develops and manages the Aquatics for the Kalispel Golf and Country Club (KGCC). Responsible for facility safety and management programs and team member development. The Aquatics manager also coordinates all aquatic special events along with adult and youth programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and evaluate KGCC Aquatics programs (Youth and Adult, and outreach swimming lessons, water exercise, lap and recreational swimming).
  • Assist in developing and managing aquatic budget.
  • Supervise the coordination of specialty programs like: summer outreach programs, lifeguard and swim instructor training.
  • Coordinate and promote aquatic special events.
  • Manage staff development: hiring, termination, and training and development that contribute to the overall quality of the aquatic program.
  • Monitor the daily operation of the pools including: water clarity, chemical balance and pool equipment, minor and/or pertinent maintenance of pool equipment;
  • Identification of and remedies for potential safety and maintenance risks;
  • Work closely with management to insure a safe, clean aquatic facility that meets or exceeds all local and state standards.
  • Keeps all records for staff certifications, chemical readings and usage statistics appropriate for maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Assist when necessary in instructional programs and lifeguarding duties.
  • Develops new and evaluates existing programs based upon member’s feedback, evaluations and surveys, or by identifying KGCC needs.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and programs.
  • Establish personal goals for self-improvement and professional growth.
  • Excellent aquatic leadership by providing a safe environment and quality programming for members and guests.
  • Maximizing the pools’ potential for usage will result in greater program enrollment and member satisfaction.
  • May be required to be a panelist for the Internal Review Hearings.

Supervisory Responsibility

Responsible for supervising Lifeguards and coordinates all interviews, hiring, correction notices and performance reviews for all staff.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, recreation or related field preferred.

Experience

  • Two plus years’ experience in aquatic programming and facility management.
  • Experience with handling and programming for all special populations.

Skills

  • Ability to recruit, train, supervises and motivates staff.
  • Excellent organizational, management, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of pool licensing and safety requirements.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Other Requirements

  • Current certification as a Lifeguard Instructor or Instructor Trainer, Water Safety Instructor or Instructor Trainer, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Certified Pool Operator, and obtain equivalent aquatic’s certifications by the end of the second year of employment.

Physical Demands

  • Requires the ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Significant portions of the job require extended sedentary periods, constant work with computers, including extended periods of keyboarding, and repetitive motion of hands and wrists.
  • This position requires significant amounts of standing or walking.
  • This position requires occasional local and out of town travel to meetings and conferences.
  • This position requires the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • This position requires frequent amounts of work to be performed outside general business hours.

Working Conditions

  • This position is performed primarily in an office environment.
