Summary of Functions
Under the direction and in the absence of the laundry manager coordinates day to day operations to ensure we are maintaining or exceeding laundry standards. Assigns day to day positions to KLS team members in a fair and positive manner. Handles all team member disciplinary actions and reports them to the laundry manager. Trains all “new hires” and assists with department orientation. Performs presorting of linens into specified classifications according to type of linen. Weighs soiled linen and records volume weight on a daily volume log. Loads and unloads carts and washing machines. Performs conditioning and drying of linens at proper temperature and utilizes equipment capacity to promote work flow on the production floor. Inspects linens for stains and tears, dry folds linens, feeds linens into feeder spreader, folds linens coming out of the flat-work ironer, feeds towels into folding machines and loads linen carts with folded items. Records outgoing weights to ensure proper charges to customers. Removes linens from service and disposes of all washable textile items used by and not limited to Northern Quest Resort and Casino.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluates and selects, procures, receives stores, places into service, processes, monitors usage, removes from service and disposes of all contracted washable materials.
- Understands and ensures compliance to health, safety and environmental requirements and regulations as applicable to the laundry operation. (Tribal, State and Federal)
- Ensures that the laundry operation is kept clean and safe –this includes its bathroom facilities, equipment and the grounds immediately adjacent to the operation.
- Maintains a record of items being “ragged out”due to damage, age or stains.
- Monitors and informs laundry management of any textile damages (chemical damage, microorganism damage, manufacturing damage, damage in laundry plant, dye transfer and textile damages from bleach).
- Maintains a high level of professionalism, teamwork and competence in staff. Accomplishes this responsibility by establishing and monitoring standards of job performance and a professional development plan for each team member.
- Knows all-operating functions of all washers (manual and automatic), towel folders, ironer/feeders and dryers.
- Knows chemicals used in washing and all associated and related hazards.
- Understands wash temperatures, formulas and gauges for control.
- Responsible for preparation of operating and preventative maintenance to ensure machine life expectancies.
- Abides by all safety regulations. Uses safety equipment where required. Uses all equipment, machinery, cleaning products and materials issued strictly according to the proper methods and or instructions.
- May be required to be a panelist for the Internal Review Hearings.
- Establishes and maintains consistently high standards of customer services and vendor relations.
- Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.
- Ensures control/protection of company assets.
- Ensures compliance with Kalispel Tribe of Indians, Internal Controls, and KTEA Policies and Procedures.
