Job Title: Materials Manager
Department: Materials
Reports to: Director of Materials
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Responsible for Materials Department processes. Must identify any changes that will enhance departmental process quality, and submit Maintenance Program Revision Requests for applicable policy and procedure changes.
2. Insures that materials are purchased at or below the fair market value and that the required certification meets the Company standards.
3. Insures that effective communication and coordination with other departments to support the fleet’s operation with minimal interruptions.
4. Negotiates with the repair providers to obtain optimum pricing and delivery time.
5. Insures that the repair providers used are approved by the Quality Assurance department.
6. Maintains adequate stock levels for routine use expendable parts and ensures that there is minimal excess stock.
7. Packages components properly to prevent damage during shipment.
8. Prepares proper documentation for parts being shipped worldwide with emphasis on hazardous materials.
9. Directs the training of all material department personnel.
10. Maintain an inventory control system for the accurate accountability for materials in the stockrooms.
11. Responsible to ensure that the material department complies with all applicable FAA regulations.
12. Ensure that assigned personnel complete any due/overdue training.
13. Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Materials.
NOTE: The Materials Manager may delegate any assigned duties to any qualified assistant; however, such delegation does not relieve him or her of overall responsibility
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three or more years of supervisory or management position
- Must have proven record of experience supervising materials operations, coordinating materials activities with maintenance control and down line stations developing subordinate technical skills.
- Ability to work multiple tasks while under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, or similar software programs
- State driver’s license
- Two years college preferred
- Good communication skills
- Must be able to travel in order to support multi station operations.
