Kalman & Company, Inc. is seeking a Truck Driver for an opportunity in support of Marine Corps Logistics Command at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. This position falls under the Department of Labors Service Contract Act (SCA). The base rate of pay for this position is $21.99/hr.
The Truck driver operates a truck to transport materials and equipment between various locations. The driver may also be responsible for loading and unloading materials and equipment in support of the Marine Corps Consolidated Storage Program (CSP). The primary objective of the CSP is to provide organization and individual issue, recovery, storage, requisitioning, maintenance and repair, management (including visibility, accountability, automated shelf-life management, and forecasting) for equipment to support the warfighter.
Specific Duties:
- Deliver goods while operating a straight truck, 1 1/2 to 4 tons inclusive, usually 6 wheels.
- Drive routes that may be over intercity routes or spanning several states
- Record amount and type of cargo being delivered.
- Fill up on fuel, clean truck, and wash windows.
- Keep truck and associated equipment, clean and in good working order.
- This driver may also load or unload truck with or without helpers, make minor mechanical repairs, and keep truck in good working order.
Required Education/Qualifications:
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
- The ability to pass a physical exam.
- Eligibility to work in the US is required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Demonstrated driving safety record.
- Ability to pass a drug screen.
- Must be able to pass a National Agency Check (NAC) investigation to obtain base access and DoD computer system access.
- Must be detailed-oriented, demonstrate good time-management skills and manage workload with minimal oversight.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and be accommodating.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Proficiency with phone systems, database, MS Windows, MS Office and tracking systems.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, such as lifting up to 50 lbs, bending and standing for long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Moderate to Loud sound (e.g., construction sites, warehouses, people traffic), extensive outdoor weather conditions and all routine job tasks inherent in position; the ability to stand and walk one-third to two-third of the time; the ability to talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; close vision; color vision; depth perception and ability to correct and adjust focus.
