What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator position at Kalsec Southwest, L.C.?
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible, under the direction of the Production Lead Person for the proper operation of Large Extraction, Small Extraction and Dehydration plants.
- Responsible, under the direction of the Production Lead Person for the proper distribution to a machine, equipment, or area to ensure quality product us produced.
- Responsible, under the direction of the Production Lead Person for providing training to ensure quality product us produced.
- Operate the processing equipment per the manufacturer and Kalsec Southwest guidelines to ensure quality product is produced.
- Clean and inspect the processing equipment or area or station per the manufacturer and Kalsec® Southwest guidelines to ensure quality product is produced.
- Complete all required process paperwork in a neat and timely manner.
- Convey, both written and verbally, all information to the next shift Lead Person and Operators.
- Know and understand all safety and health precautions and procedures and comply strictly with each one of them.
- Be familiar with material handling safety and health precautions and comply strictly with them.
- Establish and maintain appropriate communication with the QC Laboratory to ensure proper data and communication transfer both from the Production side to the Lab and from the Lab to the Production side.
- Assist in the maintenance of the Dehydration, Large Extraction, and Small Extraction Plants and the Farming operations as may from time to time be needed at the direction of the Production Supervisor and/or Lead Person. Ensure, under the direction of the Production Supervisor, that all Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements, including worker safety, environmental and sanitation are met.
- Be familiar with Kalsec® and Kalsec® Southwest corporate policies, including the company’s QA policy and objectives, and to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with those policies and objectives.
Education/Experience:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written (Bilingual a plus).
- Good attendance and work record.
- Mechanical ability.
- Troubleshooting, familiar with the equipment operation.
- Flexibility with changing priorities and duties.
- Certified lift truck operator.
Desired:
- Problem solving and analytical abilities.

Physical Requirements:
- Working in a dusty environment.
- Ascending and descending stairs and ladders.
- Able to lift to 50 pounds.
- Standing up to 3-5 hours consecutively.
- Working 8 – 12 hour rotating shifts.
- Overhead reaching and pulling.
