Description
The Financial Counseling Representative supports the work of the Financial Counseling team by ensuring the smooth operation of the department’s administrative functions. This role facilitates the work of certified Financial Counselors by efficiently processing incoming referrals, managing documentation, coordinating member communications, and assisting with the payment of members’ bills as part of their financial management plans. The representative plays an essential role in helping members transition successfully through the financial counseling program, providing support to those graduating and ensuring they have access to the tools and resources needed for continued financial wellness. This position upholds the credit union’s mission to foster meaningful relationships and cultivate financial well-being, contributing to a seamless and supportive experience for every member served.
- Support the administrative functions of our financial counselors, facilitating their work with financial counseling members.
- Process Aspire referrals, including managing referral information and setting appointments for counselors.
- Disburse funds accurately and timely to members’ creditors utilizing ACH, electronic bill pay, or checks when applicable.
- Investigate missing deposits, payment history, held funds, returned funds, or related issues to resolve member, client or creditor issues.
- Monitor member accounts for patterns, behaviors, or issues that may require intervention or follow-up by a financial counselor.
- Interview members and open accounts as needed.
- Educate and cross-sell members on the value of Kalsee products and services.
- Create efficiencies, process improvements, and digital member records.
- Review all activities for compliance with Bank Secrecy Act/ Anti-Money Laundering/ Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations and participate in annual training as required by the BSA/OFAC Compliance Officer.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent experience
- Two years of financial experience preferred
- CRM experience preferred (Salesforce, etc.)
- MCUL financial counseling certification (may be obtained post-hire)
- The Member Advantage certification (may be obtained post-hire)
- Reliability and dedication to follow-through on sales/service activities
- Excellent member service and communication skills
- Must demonstrate empathy and maintain a non-judgmental attitude when working with members facing a variety of financial challenges
- Possess a coachable spirit
- Must be organized and manage time well and independently
- Conduct and dress oneself in a professional manner and be a proper representative of Kalsee in the community
