Environmental Lab Analyst

KAM Consultants Corp., a dynamic NYC-based environmental consulting firm and laboratory, is seeking an in-house Environmental Laboratory Analyst to enrich its staff and lead day to day laboratory analytical operations.

The candidate will be assisting in a mid-size laboratory preforming and overseeing analysis on Lead, Asbestos, PBCs. Monitoring and improving workflow and to achieve the highest level of client satisfaction.

Top 3 Must Have Skill Sets

- Strong Analytical experience in a environmental laboratory for Lead and Asbestos (Minimum 5 years )

- Strong indication of highly organized, proactive individual - self motivated
- Experienced using PCM/TEM microscopes and FAAS instrument

Job Description:

● Assist lab manager in preforming day-to-day chemistry team laboratory operations

● Supervise analysis of air & bulk asbestos samples. Ensure that priority status of all samples is fulfilled. Scheduling workflow and meeting client deadlines.

● Responsible for client facing interactions.
● Strong ability to train new laboratory technicians and reinforce existing employee’s training .
● Write and review reports. Revise reports, chain of custody, other lab forms as needed.
● Adheres to internal SOPs and implements QA/QC protocol and procedures
● Produce monthly laboratory summary and reports and assist in performing proficiency tests
● Preparation for yearly inspections and internal reviews
● Supervision of and participation in maintenance of lab cleanliness and oversee disposal of hazardous waste per EPA and NYS guidelines

Qualifications:

● B.S. degree in Chemistry or related discipline (Chemical Engineering, Environmental
Science/ Engineering, Biochemistry, etc.) (Required)

● M.S. degree in Chemistry or related scientific disciplines and/or 5 years working in a chemistry lab setting. (Preferred)

● Follow NYSDOH/NVLAP/AIHA codes, rules, methods and regulations (Required)
● Minimum 5 years of related experience in Asbestos/Lead Analysis (Required)
● 2 years management experience (Preferred)
● Experience in asbestos analysis, lead analysis and the operation of PCM/TEM
● Experience with mold analysis (Preferred)
● microscopes and FAAS instrument (Required)
● Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat skills

● Proven ability to problem solve/troubleshoot and provide solutions under minimal
Supervision. Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.

● Experience in operation of FAA, GC-MS, GC-ECD, PCM, PLM, TEM instruments.

Pay: $50K - 65K (Negotiable with experience)

Must be flexible to work overtime and weekends shift when needed.
