Summary:
The Secondary Curriculum Coordinator provides leadership for curriculum, instruction, and assessment across core subject areas, including Mathematics (CCSS Math), Science (NGSS), English Language Arts (CCSS ELA), and Social Studies (CCSS Literacy in History/Social Sciences, C3, HCPSS). The Curriculum Coordinator plays a critical role in the development, articulation, and implementation of instructional programs and the coordination of professional development for staff.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with elementary curriculum coordinators, coaches, and administrators to accomplish school-wide expectations.
- Collaborate on the creation and refinement of an overall Professional Development (PD) Plan, encompassing Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and electives courses.
- Provide expertise and leadership in the refinement and implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for both Academic Literacy and Mathematics.
- Lead the refinement and execution of:
- A 6-12 Curriculum Plan across subject areas.
- An Assessment Plan for Math, Science, English, and Social Studies.
- An Instructional Strategy Plan applicable to all content areas.
- Clear learning expectations for secondary students.
- Work with administration to ensure resources are in place for the implementation of instructional programs, strategies, and practices.
- Monitor, evaluate, and refine instructional expectations and programs through classroom observations and student learning assessments in collaboration with the Learning Director, Principal, Vice Principals, and other curriculum coordinators.
- Support the planning and facilitation of 6-12 professional development, including analysis and refinement of PD plans based on collected implementation data.
- Lead and facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) as aligned with school-wide priorities.
- Guide the use of data-driven instruction, ensuring teachers use assessment data to inform classroom practice across all disciplines.
- Work with the Administrative Team to improve staff competencies through targeted support and coaching.
- Actively participate in faculty, grade-level, and department meetings, contributing to the planning, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs.
- Support with implementation of various online curriculum and schoolwide assessment implementation.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of 8th, 10th, and 12th-grade defenses, including identifying and refining potential learning artifacts within content classes.
- Perform other duties related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment as assigned.
Note: This is NOT a supervisory position and DOES NOT include the evaluation of colleagues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current State of Hawaii Teacher Licensure.
- Master’s degree in Education/Teaching or a content-related field (Math, Science, English, History, or related discipline).
- Successful completion of a teacher education program at an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) years of successful teaching experience in a secondary classroom in Math, Science, English, or Social Studies.
- Experience working in Hawai‘i schools.
- Demonstrated success in a leadership role at the school or district level.
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff both verbally and in writing.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable state and national standards, including CCSS Math, NGSS, CCSS ELA, C3, and HCPSS.
- Commitment to collaboration and instructional leadership.
- Expertise in foundational skills instruction, small group instruction, and differentiated teaching strategies.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development and its application to curriculum design and instructional practices.
- Strong understanding of culturally responsive teaching, including Hawaiian Culture-Based Education and/or Ola Kamaile practices.
- Experience integrating technology to support instruction, assessment, and student learning.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflection.
- Reliability in attendance, punctuality, and follow-through.
- Familiarity with distance learning, data collection, and analysis.
Desired Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in Education/Teaching or a subject-related field (Math, Science, English, History, etc.).
- Demonstrated expertise in content knowledge and research-based instructional strategies across Math, Science, English, and Social Studies.
- Experience with curriculum creation and knowledge of Eureka Math (Grade 6), McGraw Hill Math (Grade 7 ), Amplify ELA, HMH Into Lit curriculum.

Pay: $53,873.00 - $97,943.00 per year
