As an Assembly Inspector in our Precision Products facility in Middletown, CT, you will perform dimensional and visual inspection of complex in-process and completed assemblies. Come be a part of our growing team!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect complex subassemblies and completed units to assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, written instruction and operation routing sheets for dimensional characteristics as well as soldering and welding workmanship, wiring, staking, runout, squareness, fit and function, component location, marking and completion of operations.
- Record non-conforming conditions and data as required. Review test data sheets for such subassemblies as printed wiring boards and for tip assemblies and final product for completeness, legibility and compliance with specified values and tolerances. Confirm, through inspection of product and observance of related operations, that assembly tools and fixtures produce acceptable product. Check assembly test panels and chassis for identification, damage, compatibility with item tested and accepts for use.
- Record inspection results and complete required documentation sign off. May occasionally inspect templates, jigs, fixtures and gauges to tool design for gauge standards to insure appropriate manufacturing process. Report discrepancies or conditions that would result in defective products.
- Coordinate with product and quality assurance engineers on a regular basis, as required, to communicate and explain non-conforming conditions to assist in obtaining necessary corrective action. May work with customer inspector during concurrent inspections. May plot measurements on control charts and histograms. Interpret and use company/customer specified sampling plans. Assist in formulating and reporting recommendations for correction of process to eliminate or reduce percentage of defects.
- Instruct and guide lower level inspection personnel as required. May be required to participate in continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 - 3 years experience as a Quality Inspector.
- Knowledge of shop mathematics, able to read blueprints, understand specifications, charts, tables, experience utilizing a variety of precision measuring instruments.
- Some advanced training in quality inspection preferred.
- Experience with AS9100 standards.
