At RJE Telecom , as a Drafter Designer, you’ll plot, map, design, and draft in CADD using the requirements for telecommunications networks and permits. You will create accurate network maps, layouts, drawings, and detailed electronic construction prints to meet customer expectations. This is a remote position. Microstation / IDDS and copper experience required.

What you’ll do as a Drafter Designer
Create new Outside Plant (OSP) network designs in various applications / software
Develop and issue work prints for OSP Telecom networks
Work with Engineering and Construction departments and coordinate with permitting agencies
Create documentation and reporting to support the work package, ie : bill of materials, labor quantities, etc.
Ensure facility designs follow company standards and comply with the requirements of local, state and federal regulations, which may include Rural Utilities Service (RUS)
Provide any documentation required for the cost-effective placement of communication facilities
Meet project deadlines and successfully complete tasks under tight timelines
Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
To be 18 years of age or older
Authorization to work in the United States for this company
High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or at least three years of telecommunications OSP Drafting Experience is required
Kn owledge of
Microstation / IDDS application experience required
Copper optic counts, copper assignments and splicing schematics in a high-density fiber environment required
Telecommunications industry standards
Aerial, buried and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
OSP Communications Design systems
Familiar with OSP aerial and underground copper cabling and removing cable s , cable throws, cable pair reassignments and cu t t ing cables dead (e.g. ppx'ing cables )
Some OSP Engineering helpful, but not required.
Physical abilities & exposures
Routinely : Work alone in remote locations, use keyboard and mouse
Occasionally : Operate vehicle, climb stairs, stand, walk
