Overview of Position
This position will perform accounting activities in the areas of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting. The role requires a commitment to excellence, integrity, and service to others, as it supports the financial needs of Kanakuk Ministries. The position will reconcile multiple bank accounts and work closely with the Director of Finance and Assistant Controller, striving to be a faithful steward of resources entrusted to the ministry.
Description of Duties

Accounting:
- Enter accounts payable invoices for various entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Print checks or initiate ACH payments for vendor payments, maintaining a spirit of stewardship.
- Create and post deposits, serving the ministry's needs with diligence.
- Perform bank reconciliations with a focus on integrity and transparency.
- Receipt donor gifts and issue year-end giving statements with gratitude for their support.
- Coordinate and process payroll ensuring accuracy while maintaining confidentiality.
- Collaborate with the management team to create and steward budgets that align with the ministry's mission.
- Manage fixed assets and depreciation, aiming for accuracy and accountability.
- Post general journal entries for month-end closing processes with consistency.
- Generate consistent monthly financial statements, providing insights to help guide the ministry's mission.
- Provide board report data as needed, supporting leadership in their decision-making.
- Assist in filing annual registration reports, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Prepare year-end reports such as 1099 and 990 data with integrity.
- Support account balance/collection functions, offering grace and support to those in need.
- Set up payment plan options for individuals with unpaid accounts if needed, exemplifying compassion and flexibility.
- Support other accounting staff with tasks as needed, embodying a team-first mindset.

Professional Skills/Education:
· Experience in general ledger accounting in a professional setting (Accounting/Finance degree a plus)
· Experience in customer support and managing client interactions
· Experience in accounting and reporting software (QuickBooks Professional a plus)
· Experience in Microsoft Office suite (PowerBI a plus)
· Ability to perform financial analysis
· Ability to be an effective team player while managing tasks independently
