What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities and Security Services Manager position at Kanawha County Public Library?
Purpose
The Facilities and Security Services Manager is responsible for managing functions and staff related to facilities and security operations for the Kanawha County Public Library system and related entities; establishes procedures for maintenance, repair and/or replacement of Library facilities, grounds, vehicles and related equipment, enforces fire and safety policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements; Serves as the designated coordinator for ADA compliance as it relates to building accessibility and communication. Provides management and oversight of supply procurement, inventory management, and book sale activities. Plays a key role in development, design, and implementation of capital and in house Library construction projects.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in related field including: management, engineering, and business
- Demonstrated practical experience in facility maintenance and management and security, the Americans with Disabilities Act, building codes, and regulatory compliance
- Experience and understanding of state and local safety, fire, and public access guidelines
- Experience developing cost estimates and budgets
- Experience obtaining contracts
- Experience and understanding of purchasing process
- Experience at an intermediate-level or above in a related department with supervisory responsibility
- Proven skills for general computer use, to include Microsoft Office applications for report generation and presentation, the Internet, and general office equipment
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in Library Science awarded by an ALA accredited institution
- Experience in facility maintenance and management and security as related to the delivery of Library Services
- Experience managing facilities and staff at multiple locations

- Maintain operating knowledge of related equipment and software.
- Explain complicated or technical information in a simple way to non-technical audiences.

- Operate the vehicles safely, possess/provide documentation of valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Establish, maintain, and foster positive, harmonious, and effective working relationships.
- Meet a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends and available on-call for emergencies by telephone and/or cell phone
