POSITION: Itinerant ID/AU Teacher
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Student Support
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment terms may be established by KCSBOE.
SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Kanawha County Teacher Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310 and KCS G48A.
JOB SUMMARY: Provide appropriate instruction to K-12 ID/AU students in various classrooms throughout KCS as needed, and ensure that the students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate grade level. Support existing ID/AU teachers as needed when not assigned to a classroom.
GENERAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
An employee working for Kanawha County Schools is expected to comply with all the Kanawha County Schools Policies and Procedures, including maintaining regular attendance and completing all required training. Employees are required to follow all safety rules to maintain a safe workplace.

- Responsible for planning and implementing collaborative models with special education students and teachers.
- May be responsible for planning & implementing classroom schedules in regards to IEP minutes.
- Accountable for individual student achievement as the situation requires.
- Responsible for planning and implementing personalized learning for all students.
- Strong working/communication skills with administrators, students, parents, peers and IEP team members.
- Willing to implement any other programs based on school or student need.
- Open to flexibility with daily tasks and responsibilities based on evolving priorities
- Accountable for managing student behavior and ensuring a structured learning environment.
- Includes supervisory and/or other duties as assigned
- Training new staff on the implementation of Special Education Curriculum Collaborate with other OES and Central office staff as appropriate
- Model differentiation of instruction in lessons as needed
- Assist with instructional strategies, lesson plan development, classroom station rotations and other strategies aligned to teaching reading to Students with Disabilities

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate; Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
- In depth knowledge of ID/AU Center Curriculum (Unique Learning, PCI Sight Word Program, TeachTown, Handwriting without Tears)
- Experience with CPI and De-Escalation Strategies
- ID/AU Self-Contained Teaching Experience
- Experience in teacher leadership roles
- AAC Knowledge
