EMPLOYMENT TERM: 261 Days
SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Kanawha County Schools Director Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and KCSBOE Policy Performance Evaluation of School Personnel - Administrative Procedures.
JOB SUMMARY: The KCSCEP Director is responsible for the overall development, organization, operation and coordination of the broadly defined Community Education Program of Kanawha County Schools.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the development, organization, operation and coordination of KCSCEP programs.
- Assume responsibility in recruiting, selection, training, supervision and evaluation of all staff members working with KCSCEP.
- Facilitate the participation of the KCSCEP Advisory Council in program development.
- Studies, analyzes and evaluates department programs and services to ensure continued effectiveness in meeting community needs and interests; conducts surveys; supervises procedures to answer grievances from public; acts as liaison between the department and other county departments and public.
- Serves on councils, committees, and task forces representing the department and school system.
- Organizes, prepares and provides all public information on behalf of KCSCEP.
- Coordinates the development of the KCSCEP handbooks, flyers and other modes of communication that keep the community, KCS employees and families aware of KCSCEP activities.
- Develops and administers the total KCSCEP budget.
- Administers, supervises and approves all department expenditures and revenues.
- Facilitates the training, supervision and evaluation of KCSCEP staff with site directors for all KCSCEP program sites.
- Responsible for meeting all required license regulations and procedures set forth by WV DHHR at all child care sites.
- Responsible for meeting all nutrition regulations and requirements of the Child Nutrition Department of the school system and WV DHHR.
- Facilitates the writing of grants to promote community services.
- Any other duties assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education.
- Master’s degree in Education Administration.
- Five years’ experience in community education or administration or equivalent experience combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge or ability.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff, community, businesses, agencies and community resources.
