Position Summary
Kanbe’s Markets is seeking a Volunteer Engagement and Impact Manager to oversee and enhance the volunteer experience across all departments. This position will play a critical role in supporting Kanbe’s volunteer program as it relates to the organization’s growth, including expanding volunteer opportunities, leading outreach and recruitment at partner events, developing workflows to improve team communication, and designing programming for new initiatives—all to boost engagement and impact . While the Redirection Program remains a cornerstone of Kanbe’s volunteering, this role will expand initiatives across areas such as Community Engagement and External Affairs Events.
This highly relational role requires exceptional interpersonal skills, an adaptable, creative attitude, and enthusiasm to build meaningful, engaging experiences for Kanbe’s volunteers. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Development, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the organization's strategic plan and bring a visionary approach to collaboration across departments in creating the greatest possible impact through volunteering.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Oversees Ambassador Program: Motivate and grow our VIP volunteer team.
- Volunteer Recruitment: Identify and engage volunteers from diverse sectors, including corporate, educational, religious, and nonprofit organizations.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with volunteers and keystakeholders to grow Kanbe’s volunteer base.
- Opportunity Development: Design and actualize new volunteer opportunities.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Manage volunteer scheduling for both on-site and off-site projects across multiple departments.
- Volunteer Activation and Alignment: Educate and inspire groups around Kanbe's mission and impact.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with departments including Operations, Community Engagement, and External Affairs to integrate volunteer efforts.
- Data Management: Track volunteer hours and projects while generating regular reports using systems like CERVIS.
- Material Development: Lead the creation of materials and media to support volunteer engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in volunteer recruitment, organization, and management.
- Passion for working with people, building relationships, and public engagement.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with fundraising principles and best practices.
- Experience managing CRM systems (such as Hubspot).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Enjoys a fast-paced environment and comfortable managing multiple projects at once.

- Proven ability to streamline and improve systems and processes.
- Proficiency with technology, including tools for inventory, volunteer, and project management, as well as database systems.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $58,000–$63,000, commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for incentive compensation.
- Benefits: Full-time (40 hours per week) position with health insurance benefits.
- PTO: Paid time off is available after 90 days of continuous employment.
Impact Roadmap
Within 1 Month:
- Complete orientation on Kanbe’s mission, workflows, staff, and key systems.
- Accompany a delivery driver to gain first-hand experience of the organization’s community impact.
- Observe and participate in a volunteer group event, including orientation, hands-on activities, and debriefing.
- Meet with donation partners to understand donation workflows.
- Audit current volunteer workflows and opportunities.
Within 3 Months:
- Learn the primary functions of CERVIS Volunteer Management Software.
- Learn the primary functions of Hubspot CRM Software.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of volunteer opportunities across all departments.
- Support and at times, lead volunteer communication and attend volunteer events.
- Implement strategies to engage volunteers in donor initiatives.
Within 6 Months:
- Achieve established volunteer participation goals.
- Enhance and optimize volunteer orientations, making them more engaging and impactful.
- Introduce innovative approaches to deepen volunteer involvement in Kanbe’s mission.
