Infant Teacher

Reports to: Program Director

Shift: Monday - Friday Afternoons

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must possess a sincere commitment to working with children in a safe, nurturing, and developmental setting, and a desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives
  • Work with the Program Director to create and implement Learning Labs and other educational programming with the appropriate and established guidelines
  • Create and implement weekly plans
  • Supervise Teachers, Assistant Teachers and Aides in their areas
  • Help supervise indoor and outdoor activities as well as field trips
  • Be knowledgeable of and able to implement emergency procedures
  • Assist with upkeep of the facility, equipment along with the overall safety, appearance, and image of the classroom
  • Guide children’s behavior, using positive, consistent style – be purposeful and intentional with reinforcing character development values
  • Implement health and safety protocols and MN Department of Health/Kandiyohi County Public Health standards
  • Attend YMCA and other trainings and meet MDE requirements
  • Maintain positive relationships with members, participants and the community
  • Represent the YMCA in a professional manner
  • Understanding, proficiency and training capabilities for our web app, parent communication software
  • Assume other duties, responsibilities and projects identified as needed by the employee and approved and/or assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA preferred
  • Meet requirements to be a teacher under the Minnesota Department of Education
  • Experience working in an educational setting preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
  • CPR/AED/BFA certifications within first 30 days employment.
  • Additional trainings as required by the position.

  • The employee is occasionally requires to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour
