Aurora Location: Violence Prevention Specialist role will convene community partners to explore, address and respond to community violence. This individual will need to be skilled at working with a diverse set of stakeholders to assure all voices are heard and apply public health interventions to support the communities impacted. The focus of this work will be in the greater Aurora area. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and public health initiatives, establishing, leading and maintaining community partnerships, facilitating community meetings, planning events, and managing work plans and timelines. Work will involve multiple initiatives and projects at any given time and will change as the initiatives and projects evolve.
Requirements: Master’s degree or comparable experience preferred in public health, social work or other closely related degree. Bilingual preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with three (3) years of experience in population/system level public health and with a commitment to achieving a Master’s Degree within four (4) years. Three (3) years of public health experience. National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 700.a certifications.
National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) 300 and 400 certification within four (4) months of employment. Valid Illinois driver’s license, current certificate of vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation to all assigned work locations.
