- Provide HSSE leadership and direction to Direct Reports to ensure they are effectively meeting the objectives of their positions.
- Prepare annual budget for area of responsibility and administer for maximum benefit remaining conscious of cost.
- Perform audits and Plant GEMBAs to ensure compliance with internal procedures and all applicable regulatory standards.
- Manage and evolve safety Operating Management System and lead HSSE committees for employees and contractors.
- Direct and lead the development of an emergency response/preparedness program to meet the increasing demand of an expanding facility, including enhancement.
- Continually oversee and improve the company Industrial Hygiene, medical surveillance and post-accident return to work programs.
- Promote accident prevention and facilitate incident investigations in collaboration with PSM and site leaders as needed.
- Manage the inspection and maintenance programs of plant fire protection, safety, and first aid facilities through the Emergency Response & Security Superintendent.
- Continuously improve industrial hygiene program and site chemical explosure program.
- Continually improve the emergency response programs , exercises and drills through the Emergency Response & Security Superintendent.
- Continuously improve the Product Stewardship Program through the Product Stewardship Associate.
- Perform benchmarking to ensure site utilizes industry recognized best practices.
- Provide oversight and direction on safety training program and orientration programs for visitors and contractors .
- Develop , revise and maintain plant safety procedures.
- Support site Behavior Accident Prevention program and perform annual incident tracking and trending to determine key hSSE focus areas .
- Manage site security systems & site physical security programs through the Emergency Response & Security Superintendent
- Represent company interest at the Channel Industry Mutual Aid (CIMA), Texas Chemical Council (TCC), and Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meetings to present company information and benchmark the safety, health, and emergency response practices of peer organizations.
- Hold the designation of Site Security Officer(SSO) as it relates to Department of Homeland Security and monitor the implementation and maintenance of Site Security Plan measures.
- Continuously improve company safety culture through teamwork, cooperation, and commitment to life safety and regulatory compliance.
- Drive Company to achieve industry recognized certifications and recognition for safe performance and complete all required regulatory OSHA submissions .
- Support KAH business entities in the area of Safety, Health, Security as needed.
- Support Global Safety Standards Development and Audits as needed.
- Interact with all levels of management and plant employees, other industry professionals, State and Federal enforcement agencies and community.
