Description
The Senior Engineer, Structural and Thermal Analysis will have a strong background in structural dynamics and thermal analysis in the aerospace industry. They will lead complex engineering projects, perform advanced simulations, and ensure the structural integrity and thermal performance of components and systems.
Major Responsibilities :
Lead and conduct static and dynamic analyses of aerospace components and systems to assess their performance under various loading conditions
Utilize computational tools and methodologies to model and simulate dynamic behavior, including vibrations, shock, and impact
Perform detailed thermal analyses to evaluate heat transfer, thermal loads, and temperature distributions within aerospace systems
Design and implement thermal management solutions to ensure optimal performance and safety under extreme conditions
Lead engineering projects from concept through to production, ensuring that dynamic and thermal considerations are integrated into all phases
Guide Kaney products through environmental aspects of qualification, including writing test procedures, designing test fixtures, assisting with testing, and writing qualification reports
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on dynamics and thermal analysis
Minimum Competencies :
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to effectively communicate analysis results and potential design improvements to both engineers and non-engineers
Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, theory and materials
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to identify and solve design problems, especially related to tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes
Precision and attention to detail to produce accurate and error-free design documentation
Familiarity with Temperature, Altitude and Vibration test equipment
Experience with aerospace standards (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-810)
Preferred Qualifications :
Familiar with AS9100 practices
Experience in a Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering environment
Preferred Competencies :
Exposure to aircraft systems
Experience correlating analysis predictions with test data
Experience performing finite element analysis (FEA) with at least one FEA software package
Experience with MATLAB / Simulink
Experience with electromechanical actuation systems
Experience performing fatigue analyses of structures
Experience performing shaft and bearing analyses
Experience taking measurements with accelerometers, thermocouples and other instruments
Experience with Data Acquisition Systems
Operational Details / Work Environment :
Work activities may be performed at Company facilities or at the facilities of the company's customers
Work will be performed both in an office environment and in a laboratory environment
Travel to customer site may be required
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required in some workspaces
