What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director, TRIO Student Support Services position at Kankakee Community College?
Executes the goals and objectives for the TRIO Student Support Services grant in accordance with the U.S. Department of Education and guidelines of Kankakee Community College.
A. Interprets U.S. Department of Education regulations applicable to the grant programs, and ensures internal accountability by developing, implementing, and updating program policies and procedures as needed to ensure compliance with federal regulations.B. In collaboration with program staff, prepares and submits Annual Performance Report (APR) to the U.S. Department of Education and grant renewal application, in addition to other college departmental reports as required by the Director of Support Services.
C. Supervises the design, implementation, and evaluation of academic advisement, financial literacy instruction, career advising, cultural/recreational activities, and orientation for program participants.
D. Organizes the development and implementation of annual strategic plan for participant recruitment and retention. Includes planning strategies for program publicity, determination of participant eligibility, methods of recruitment, documentation, remediation and follow-up services.
E. Creates programming for each academic year which includes collaborating with community professionals, faculty and staff in the upgrowth of college skills improvement, financial literacy and career exploration for participants.
F. Coordinates the collection and analyzation of data for decision-making to continuously improve services and outcomes of the program. This includes selecting appropriate evaluation methods, administering assessments, collecting data, and working with staff to evaluate results.
G. Creates annual budget for submission to the U.S. Dept. of Education. Reconciles expenditures and calculates projections to maintain fiscal control and accountability.
H. Plans and executes ongoing training to ensure project staff has thorough understanding of project regulations. Supervises and evaluates project staff professional development in addition to regularly scheduled staff meetings.
I. Supervises the recruitment, and recommendation regarding hiring of project staff. Provides support and supervision to assigned staff and completes an annual evaluation for each staff member.A. Master’s degree required in education, social work, student personnel, counseling, or a related area preferred.
B. Three years administrative experience in a Student Support Services (SSS), higher education, federal funded programs, or grant programs particularly for disadvantaged students.
C. Experience in budget management/accounting or experience in managing budgets more than $200,000 annually.
D. At least three years of experience working with students from underrepresented groups in a higher education setting.
E. Experience with planning/implementing student retention strategies.
F. Two years of experience in a supervising personnel.
G. Candidates with similar cultural and academic backgrounds to target population preferred.
H. Qualified candidate must be functionally literate in reading, writing, and computation skills.Salary range: $65,425/yr. min - $75,239/yr. - mid - $85,053/yr. max
