What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dean, Health Careers position at Kankakee Community College?
A. Maintains the day-to-day operation of the division; schedules and conducts regular meetings of the instructional personnel in the division. Manages the promotion, organization, coordination, scheduling and evaluation of the courses and curricula of the division; assists in course and curriculum development of assessment.
B. Supervises and evaluates division faculty, with the exception of nursing faculty. Supervises the Director of Nursing and supportive staff. Recommends professional development needs, tenure appointments and discipline/discharge of faculty and or staff exhibiting unsatisfactory performance in the division to the VPAA.
C. Recommends selection of personnel for all full and part-time instructional and staff positions within the division to the VPAA. Performs other duties as assigned by the VPAA.
D. Develops and submits an annual budget request for the operation of the division and programs in conjunction with the program directors. Approves expenditures of the division(s) within the Board-adopted budget. Responsible for control, maintenance an inventory of equipment within the division.
E. Recommends to the Vice President Academic Affairs the schedules of classes and instructor assignments for the Division.
F. Serves as a liaison between the college and all clinical facilities.
G. Serves on Curriculum and Academic Standard committee; other college committees as assigned by the VPAA.
H. Monitors all work related to continued accreditation of all health career programs and ensures timely reporting to regulatory and accreditation agencies.
I. Collaborates with program directors to ensure that advisory committees meet on a regular basis and minutes are disseminated appropriately, including to the VPAA.
J. Monitors student enrollment, retention, and success to create positive change for the division.
K. Investigates faculty and student issues and responds appropriately and in a timely fashion.
A. Master’s degree required.B/ Qualified to teach in one of the following areas: Nursing, Medical Assistant/Coding, Health Information Management, Medical Lab Assistant/Phlebotomy, Respiratory, Radiology, Paramedic or Physical Therapy Assistant.
C. Two years of teaching experience in a health field preferred.
D. At least 2,000 hours of documented work experience required in area of teaching.
E. Qualified candidate must have excellent reading, writing, and computation skills as well as be computer literate.Hiring range begins at $88,225/yr. min. - $103,664/yr. 1st quartile - $119,104/yr. mid.
