POSITION: Contractual Grants Program Specialist
SALARY: $21.00 per hour ( hours per week based on workload)
Associate degree in public health, health promotion, community health, social work, education, administration, counseling, psychology, nursing, or related field with preference for those pursuing or who have completed a bachelor’s degree in the previously mentioned field, bilingual preferred
JOB DUTIES: Leading educational sessions for students, providing clear and respectful communication about abstinence, creating age-appropriate, evidence-based lesson plans aligned with school policies and state requirements.
· Designing engaging and interactive teaching materials, such as presentations, handouts, and activities.
· Using activities and discussions to address peer pressure, boundaries, and personal values
· Addressing misconceptions about sexual activity, relationships, and abstinence.
· Educating students on the connection between abstinence and preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs), unplanned pregnancies, and emotional challenges.
· Working with teachers, counselors, and administrators to ensure the program fits within the broader health education curriculum.
· Provides resources and workshops to help parents discuss abstinence and relationships with their children.
· Gathering feedback from students, teachers, and parents to improve educational programs
· Assessing student understanding and engagement through pre- and post-session evaluations
· Maintaining sensitivity to diverse cultural, religious, and personal beliefs about abstinence and sexual activity
· Accurately records all activities and data measures for multiple programs.
· Maintains regular and effective communication regarding program operations with the Kankakee County Health Department’s Administrator and Health Promotion Coordinators.
· Performs appropriate emergency response duties as required
· Performs other duties as assigned.

- Computer knowledge and typing, including Microsoft word package
- Ability to maintain detailed records and reports according to guidelines of appropriate programs
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize when needed
- Ability to independently seek resources and work collaboratively
- Experience and work ethics that support working within a highly functioning team-oriented environment
- Able to travel and attend professional meetings, trainings, educational presentations
- Current Illinois Driver’s license. Personal vehicle for use in carrying out required duties. Auto liability insurance is mandatory. Demonstrates ability to carry a minimum of 15 pounds
