FULL-TIME HEALTH PROMOTION COORDINATOR 8:30-4:30 M-F

DUTIES:
Plans, organizes, and conducts comprehensive public education.
Performs comprehensive community health assessment.
Provides consultative services and technical assistance to department staff and outside agencies.
Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends changes in health education methods, techniques, and resources.
Serves as resource for KCHD programs and services.
Serves as resource for family life education to local teens, preteens, and parents.
Serves as resource for general health education topics across the lifespan
Assist with planning and marketing of KCHD sponsored conferences and events.
Prepares and submits reports, statistics, and data as required.
Plans and prepares request for proposals for grant funding.
Performs appropriate emergency response duties as required
Provides education and outreach to community-organizations, law enforcement, first responders, community members, those struggling with substance use and their families on opioid overdose death prevention strategies.
Primarily engages organizations who are in high risk areas within Kankakee, Grundy, Iroquois, and Kendall Counties to offer Opioid Overdose Death Prevention Training.
Provides Opioid Overdose Prevention Training to interested individuals or agencies.
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Training
Bachelor’s degree in public health, community health education, social work, nursing, or another related field. Masters Preferred. Two years of experience in community health or a similar setting preferred.
Job Requirements
Current Illinois driver’s license. Personal vehicle for use in carrying out required duties. Auto insurance as required by state law. Requires vision adequate to read and analyze printed/written documents. Must have proficient written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with community stakeholders. Knowledge and data entry efficiency with computers required. Must be able to lift, carry, and transport a minimum of 30 pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs. Manual and finger dexterity required for operation of audiovisual equipment and educational materials. Hearing and speech adequate to answer telephone calls and to communicate with target populations, outside agencies, and staff. May require some nights/weekends for events within Kankakee County.
