Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for equity, inclusion, and diversity across the district’s programs and services.
- Collaborate with district leadership to align equity initiatives with the district's mission, goals, and strategic plan.
- Provide leadership in creating and sustaining inclusive educational environments where all students thrive.
- Oversee and provide guidance for special education programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Lead the development and implementation of programs and services for English language learners, ensuring they meet the needs of multilingual students and families.
- Supervise early childhood education programs, emphasizing developmentally appropriate practices, kindergarten readiness, and equitable access.
- Analyze district policies and practices to identify and address systemic inequities affecting diverse student populations.
- Facilitate professional development for staff on equity, cultural competency, differentiated instruction, and inclusive practices.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for families of diverse student populations, addressing concerns and building trust.
- Work with school leaders, teachers, and staff to implement strategies that promote academic success for all students, particularly those from historically underserved groups.
- Build partnerships with community organizations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to support diverse student populations.
- Serve as a liaison between the district, families, and community stakeholders, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
- Use data to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives for special education, ELL, and early childhood education.
- Develop and implement metrics to measure progress toward achieving equity goals.
- Prepare and present reports to the superintendent, school board, and community on the status of equity initiatives and student outcomes.
- Deep understanding of equity principles, culturally responsive teaching, and inclusive practices.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices related to special education, ELL programs, and early childhood education.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple programs, initiatives, and priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in analyzing data to inform decision-making and improve outcomes for diverse student populations.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience in education, with a focus on equity, special education, English language learners, or early childhood education.
- Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
- Valid administrator certification or eligibility for certification as required by the state.
- Primarily office-based with frequent visits to schools and community sites.
- May require attendance at evening or weekend events and meetings.
