Position: VDI Engineer

Duration: 12 Months
We are seeking for a VDI Engineer to be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Horizon VDI platform and supporting components. Working closely with the VDI manager, the VDI engineer will be the point person for escalations from support staff, and non-architecture or process related tasks and inquiries. Other responsibilities extend to identifying problems and errors, incident management, documentation, reporting and dashboarding, and EUT projects. A proven understanding of end user technology and End User Experience in an enterprise environment is crucial. The successful candidate must be able to work in unsupervised situations, provide excellent customer service, be extremely detailed and highly motivated.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Maintain multi-site Horizon VDI environment
• Monitor and optimize virtualization performance, ensuring high quality and availability
• Update and maintain persistent and non-persistent gold images
• Lead engineering efforts to prepare the VDI environment for migration to Windows 11
• Field escalations from support staff
• Assist with App Volumes deployment and operation
• Assist with day-to-day operation of Site Recovery Manager
• Knowledge creation and maintenance
Additional Responsibilities:
• Project lifecycle management and project status reporting
• Understanding of security and compliance controls to meet business needs
• Analyze and identify trends in reported issues and devise preventative solutions
• Participate in cross team projects
• Other tasks and projects assigned by the manager
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or 5 years of studies in IT related field
• Strong understanding of VMware/Omnissa Horizon and supporting technologies, including:
o Dynamic Environment manager
o Instant Clones
o vSphere/vCenter/ESXi
o Horizon RDSH Farms and Applications
• Experience with building and maintaining gold images
• Strong troubleshooting skills (level 2, 3)
• Experience with ControlUp monitoring software
• Experience with Site Recovery Manager and vSphere Replication
• Good Interpersonal Skills; Communication, flexibility, self-driven, team player
• Strong verbal and written skills and the ability to interact with global teams and customers
