SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Center for the History of Family Medicine (CHFM) manager is responsible for the access to, professional care, daily management, and maintenance of the CHFM archives including its organization, preservation, and storage. The CHFM manager refines, implements, and upholds archival policies and procedures regarding processing, documenting, and accessing archival collections, including processing incoming archival records for research use. This position supervises and trains interns and volunteers, manages the Board of Curators, provides administrative oversight of all activities related to CHFM including budget management and website maintenance, and coordinating / processing oral history donations. The CHFM manager administers three initiatives : The Sandy L. Panther Fellowship, Oral History Grant, and CHFM Student and Resident Essay Contest.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS :
Master’s degree in a discipline directly related to the position : Library, Information Science, and related fields, plus at least two years related experience. Experience working in historical repositories such as libraries, archives and museums preferred. Ability to present public tours of, or public presentations about, the CHFM, the history of Family Medicine, archival, museum or library conservation techniques, or other related topics. Familiarity with professional standards, principles, and terminology used in archival, museum, and library repositories. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
