What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Clinical Assistant/Nurse position at Kansas City Bone and Joint Clinic?
Position Description: This position works directly with a surgeon to schedule surgeries, handle patient calls, be the point person for physicians in clinic. This is primarily a sit down job in a clinic setting. Hours are 8:30-5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. No weekends.
We have two offices: Overland Park (main) and Lee's Summit. Staff are required to work at both locations, but most shifts are at the Overland Park office.
Day-to-day duties include but are not limited to:
- Working directly with a surgeon in a clinic setting.
- Counsels the patient regarding medical concerns.
- Responds to web encounters and phone triage calls.
- Assist with post operative patients in clinic (wound care, dressing changes, removing suture/staples, and splint applications).
- Scheduling surgeries, other procedures as needed.
- Electronic order entry and documentation.
- Drawing/prepping for injections as needed.
- Lab draws if applicable.
- Proficiency in typing and general understanding of IT and computer usage.
- Anatomical terminology and general understanding of medication/pharmacological uses.
- Completing FMLA paperwork.
Qualifications:
- We prefer candidates with the following experience/background: Athletic Trainer, Exercise Science/Kinesiology, Medical Assistant, LPN, surgical scrub tech, Surgery Scheduler or previous experience in similar position.
- Must be able to multi-task, be detailed oriented, organized and have great computer skills.
- We prefer candidates that have experience in scheduling surgeries and/or orthopedics.
