POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, Risk Management is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the risk management program of KC CARE, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. The Manager, Risk Management identifies potential risks to patients, staff, and the organization and works proactively to mitigate those risks. The Manager, Risk Management collaborates with leadership, clinical teams, compliance, and quality improvement staff to support a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and implements a comprehensive risk management program tailored to the unique needs of an FQHC per HRSA/FTCA requirements.
- Maintains current and up-to-date OSHA manual for healthcare.
- Compiles, reviews, and analyzes all incident reports, identifies trends and areas of improvement, and works with leadership to determine appropriate steps to mitigate risk.
- Maintains risk management information system database of incident report occurrences.
- Prepares various incident summary reports and makes recommendations on processes to reduce risk.
- Assigns, coordinates, and follows up on incident report investigations and ensures appropriate documentation is submitted for reporting purposes.
- Acts as a resource person for questions related to risk management.
- Develops and delivers training and education for staff on risk management, safety, incident reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepares educational documents to raise staff awareness of risk exposure as required and to address high risk, problem prone areas.
- Maintains OSHA logs of employee accidents injury, needlesticks, etc.
- Compiles documentation for the grants department to ensure FTCA requirements are met.
- Conducts regular audits, walking rounds, and assessments to ensure clinical compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Performs tasks and duties associated with the clinical risk management program including risk identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation.
- Participates in committees as assigned: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), PCMH, Board Finance & Operations, and Board/Staff QI meetings.
- Oversees and participates in the development, revision, and updating of policies, procedures, and protocols to assure best practices in healthcare risk management and prevention.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements including HRSA, OSHA, HIPAA, FTCA, PCMH, and other relevant federal and state guidelines.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, risk management, or similar OR the equivalent combination of experience.
- Three years’ experience in healthcare with a focus on community health.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)
- Certification in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM)
- Licensed as a nurse in the State of Missouri

Working Conditions
General working conditions are in a healthcare facility. As such, there is a potential exposure to virus, disease, and infection from patients while performing the duties of this job. May experience traumatic situations including psychiatric traumatized and deceased patients. Travel may be expected to community meetings, client homes, or other agencies.
