Maintains financial controls over all related accounting functions, i.e., revenue, billing, cash receipts, accounts receivable and bad debts. Supervises and monitors the work of Patient Accounts Representatives to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of personnel time and talents. Plans, coordinates, evaluates and updates procedures for the billing to and collection from third party payors and patients. Establishes and monitors goals to improve and maintain the aging of receivables. Develops and implements accounting systems and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy of department and to expedite the flow of information to other departments / agencies. Supervises preparation of agency accounting and statistical reports related to revenue and accounts receivable for use by Controller, President, Board, other departments and other agencies. Recruits, employees, supervises and evaluates Patient Accounts staff and approves written job descriptions. Interfaces with third party payors to develop procedures and ensure timely payment of claims. Assists the Chief Financial Officer in development of rates for negotiation with third party payors. Coordinates annual audit as related to areas of responsibility. Communicates with patients & families, referral sources, insurance case managers, physicians and others with courtesy, responsiveness and cooperation.
