SUMMARY
The Electrician is responsible for all campus facilities, college wide Helpdesk tickets, Centennial Hall maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all electrical equipment, systems, and machinery. Assisting the Maintenance Project Lead in any electrical maintenance, remodels, and general operation of the college. This position will also be responsible for all electrical related Helpdesk tickets.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Install and repair electrical wiring, operate, troubleshoot, or repair electrical equipment, systems and fixtures belonging to Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC).
- Install or replace pipes, conduits, circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them as needed.
- Test and inspect electrical systems and ensure proper installation and operation.
- Ensure piping and wiring complies with the National Electric Code (NEC), or the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 70).
- Performs electronic recordkeeping related to preventative maintenance and repair so that the Facility Services division makes the most efficient and effective use of computerized maintenance management and service request systems; tracks and closes assigned work orders.
- Order and maintain inventory of electrical repair parts and supplies after consulting with Maintenance Manager.
- Assist in planning and developing modifications to existing electrical systems as well as inspect electrical work performed by outside contractors.
- Assist Maintenance Manager and maintenance team with special projects and addressing any safety concerns on campus as needed.
- Operate machinery and equipment normally associated with school systems and commercial buildings.
- Be on call 24 hours a day seven days a week.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong organizational skills, effective communication, time management, math skills, and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of how to use and operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment found in large facilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine/preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with high and low voltage, 3 phase, AC and DC voltage.
- Knowledge of and ability to use electrical measuring meters, devices, blueprints, and tools associated with the electrical field.
- Must be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Five (5) years electrical experience in a large facility.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or course work in electrical trade.
- Master electrician license.
- Experience with Microsoft Project.
- Experience with electronic recordkeeping of work orders for the effective use of computerized maintenance management and service request systems.
- Knowledge of higher education systems, especially in community colleges, with a focus on working with a wide range of students and faculty.
- Ability to obtain master electrician license within three (3) years of hire date.

WORK SCHEDULE
Monday – Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm or 9:30am -6:00pm. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
